Illustrations by Winifred Lucy Robinson  taken from my 1909 'Childrens Book Of Gardening' book.

My dreams in book form...? The weather is getting warmer and all I want to do is spend days long in amongst all my flower friends.  If I had all of these gals outifts then that would help and I wouldn't mind being called Winifred either!

I was trying to choose a  favourite and it's a toss up between 'A Herbaceous Border' and 'Lilies and Roses', I could move right on in to those ones.

Which ones would you choose?

As always please share graciously and link back to me, thank you!

  2. Firstly ,
I want this book , its truely beautiful.
As a gardener i adore everyone,
but like yourself i love the herbaceous border as we are all dieing for the summer border in my cottage garden,
But, also i love "the poppies" because , thats me , with the abandoned hat and fork once the sun has set over the yard arm ( time for refreshment, usually a cold beer)and i have abit of a thing for poppies, then january as i love her boots and hat, sorry for long response , but this is just lovely

  5. So beautiful! I'd have loved to have it as a child (or now!). The "Cornish Cottage" one is so sweet! What makes it more exciting is that I'm finally having a little "garden in the balcony" for the first time in months so I can actually get inspired by it and do something! xxx

  6. These are such wonderful pictures! And any mention of herbaceous borders always makes the Belle & Sebastian line pop into my head: "I took a photograph of you in the herbaceous border, it broke the heart of men and flowers and girls and trees" <3
