I was the cast wardrobe assistant for Kylie Minogue's new video 'Timebomb'. Directed by Christian Larson and produced by Jacob Swan Hyam as part of the RSA Films.
I had to spray paint this jacket to get the neon colours and dress all the extra's in various outfits.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing Lydia Kovacs, head of wardrobe and who I assisted.
We had such a great day, the cast were so much fun and the video is fantastic. I know I'm probably a little bias but I LOVE the song. Can't wait to go out and have a dance to it.
The video is below, enjoy.
Wow lucky you! just watched Kylie on the voice and love her new look for this single :) x

wow so cool. i was in beyond retro yesterday and thought of your blog. i loved the underskirts in the ceiling. just wondered though how do you get into styling i have been wanting to try out interning with someone but don't really know how to approach it.
ReplyDeleteAww so nice that you thought of me! :)
DeleteTo be honest I kind of just wandered into the styling thing. I did a printed textile degree and always loved visually making things look beautiful. When I started working on the shop floor at Beyond Retro I saw how wonderful the displays where and asked if I could have a go, it turns out that I was naturally good it it so I went from there.
If you know you have a natural flair for it then my advice to you would be to do some work of your own to get in your portfolio. Once you have some visuals to show people then make a list of everyone you think you would love to work for and just go for it.
I have done lots of different types of work experience because I wasnt entirely sure what area I wanted to go into. By doing that I realised that I dont really want to pigeon hole myself into one thing. Styling' in general 'can apply to set, costume, interiors and i love doing it all.
Interning and getting experience is the best way of working out what it is you want to do and you build contacts that can help you on your way. .
I hope that helps a little. Its hard for me to give advice because I took a very strange path to get to where I am. The best advice is to have faith in your ability and if you are passionate about what it is you are doing and work hard then you are bound to get there.
Good luck. :) xx
