A Talent For Textiles At Deans Court

ATFT12
In May Deans Court hosted 'A Talent For Textiles' and I spent the whole day pinching myself to make sure I wasn't about to wake up from a very lovely dream (and to remind myself that I was in fact at work).

A Talent For Textiles is organised by the lovely Linda Clift and Caroline Bushell and it is made up of stalls selling antique and vintage textiles, clothing, lace, accessories and costumes from a selection of the South West's best antique textile dealers.

I finally got to meet the lovely Liz of 'The Washerwoman' fame, discovered the beautiful world of Donna Flower and visited an all time favourite at Old Albion.

I could have bought the whole room, far too many beautiful things in one place.

If you would like to know more about A Talent For Textiles then visit Linda's blog here.  For more Deans Court news then head on over to the Facebook, we update it reguarly and i'm sure some of you will want to see more from my colleague, Orlando the Goat.

Press: The Barry M Style files with The Broken Hearts and Cosmo

Here I am being interviewed by the lovely Broken Hearts as part of their Barry M Style Files for Cosmopolitan UK.

The series of films show the DJ duo meeting some of the UK's 'most exciting places and faces', with Barry M manicures to match.

You can see me getting my nails done in the classic 1920's Half Moon style, and because they are Barry M nail products they are completely animal friendly (a must in my book).

Whilst getting pampered inside the Beyond Retro cafe I chat about my prop work and show case one of my hand made headdresses, which will be coming to my Etsy shop.

The Barry M style files will be launched every Friday on the Cosmo UK website. Head on over there  to see the first in the series featuring the beautiful presenter duo themselves.

I would like to say a special thanks to The Broken Hearts, Barry M and Beyond Retro for giving me the opportunity to be involved in such an exciting project.

V&A Talk- Fashion Festival 2012

V&A Talk- Beyond Retro1
On the 8th of December Kristofj Von Strass and I did a talk on behalf of Beyond Retro for the V&A Museum.
I felt so honoured to be talking at one of the worlds greatest, most inspiring and influential museums. The V&A has been my favourite museum ever since I was young and it was my safe haven when I first came to live in London so personally this meant so much to me and it literally was a dream come true. You can imagine how nervous I was!
V&A Talk- Beyond Retro2

We were talking as part of the museums 'Fashion Festival' aimed at young people between the ages of 16-24. Our talk described the ins and outs of Visual Merchandising at Beyond Retro, I explained how I sourced and made the props for some of our key projects including last years  Christmas windows, featured in the top ten Christmas windows for Drapers magazine.

We also went into detail about our own freelance work, our backgrounds, where we studied and how we found our way into our careers.

Kristofj and I are both so happy with how it went, we couldn't have asked for a better turn out and we were talking in one of the most beautiful lecture theatres I have ever seen. Thank you to all that came and for all your questions, it was so nice to see so many of you so enthusiastic about going into window dressing and visual merchandising.

I would love to hear from you if you were there, feel free to leave me a comment or drop me an email.

Special thanks to James Dwyer for the photo's.

I had the great pleasure of helping Rhea Thierstein make props for this shoot with Tim Walker
As you all probably know I am a great fan of both their work, especially the work they do together.
So this really was a dream come true for me
Amongst other things I was doing a lot of plaster casting, painting giant frames and meeting some very lovely people.

Speacial Thanks to Rhea, Sophie and Lucy for giving me this amazing opportunity.

You all need to go out and buy this issue of Love
The Waltz Darling spread holds some wonderful historical information and the magazine includes this beautiful shoot with the Downtown Abbey girls, who also grace three different covers ( I got the Lady Sybil).

Money very well spent.

Work: Kylie Minogue - Time Bomb video

Kylie5

I was the cast wardrobe assistant for Kylie Minogue's new video 'Timebomb'. Directed by Christian Larson  and produced by Jacob Swan Hyam as part of the RSA Films.

Kylie6
Kylie3 I had to spray paint this jacket to get the neon colours and dress all the extra's in various outfits. Kylie1

I would like to say a huge thank you to the amazing Lydia Kovacs, head of wardrobe and who I assisted.

We had such a great day, the cast were so much fun and the video is fantastic. I know I'm probably a little bias but I LOVE the song. Can't wait to go out and have a dance to it.

The video is below, enjoy.
