Snapshots of our living room which is now dismantled, packed up and ready for our travels to The New Forest.

Some things you may like to know:

The Theatre chairs are three of the Original seats from the Bournemouth Pavillion

The Art Deco TV Cabinet previously belonged to Claridges 

The tree was made by me for a photoshoot with the wonderful We Walk On Ice. He was based on the Enchanted forest in Snow White.

The skeletons belong to our wonderful house mate Matt, who has gone off to his new home this evening. We miss you already. (♥♥)

In other news we are moving this week so apologies if I don't get back to your comments or emails. As my Instagram followers will know I did a talk at The V&A museum yesterday for their Fashion Festival, it was so exciting and they'll be more on that coming soon.

Glimpses of something that once was. 

My swallows and I are awaiting our departure. We are heading for pastures new. 

 This, I hope, will explain my lack of commenting and reading of your own lovely blogs. Please bear with me.  

As you may have guessed this is/was our dining room. The lovely people at The Vintage Fair have featured our house on their blog this week, go have a read here.

 It includes a sneak preview of our living room which I will also be posting about next week. 

These images are now only memories but the best thing about moving is that you get to start all over again.

Look Magazine Downton Abbey Feature

Here I am doing my best Lady Mary impression for a Downton Abbey inspired feature, in this week's Look magazine. My bedroom was used as the location and you may also recognize my friends Jessica, Amber and Rob who are also featured. 

For those of you who know me in person (and even those who don't) you will probably guess that they might have slightly exaggerated on my interview. ;-) That being said I am so happy with the feature and would like to thank the very lovely girls at Look, it was a pleasure.
This issue is out until Tuesday so go and have a look.

While we are on the subject of Press I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at The Vintage Fair.
I have been included on their guide to Vintage bloggers. I was absolutely thrilled (and honoured) to have been included in amongst so many amazing blogging ladies.

Stars that Slumber

Here it is, the first in a series of posts dedicated to our house. Starting with the bedroom. It is safe to say that minimal is not really in my vocabulary. I am also very lucky to have a boyfriend who doesn't mind sleeping in my overly feminine 'museum' disguised as a bedroom. Craig has a room that holds all of his stuff, and that's where he stores his drums. We met in the middle on the decor for the living room which is a combination of our tastes, you will get to see that in the next ' abode' post.

















      



      

One day I would love to have a glamourous Art Deco room worthy of a Busby Berkeley film, but for now this space makes me happy.

My Grandparents lived in Malaysia for years and got to visit most of the world thanks to my Grandads job. My granny has always collected antiques so their home was filled with unusual pieces mixed in with all the beautiful things brought back from their time in Malaysia.
I have always been very close to my Gran and her tastes have defintely inspired my own, not to mention that a lot of the things seen here have been given to me by her over the years.
The 'tent' above our bed has been made from Malaysian fabrics that she saved for me.

Any one who has watched it will also see how much I have been inspired by Carnivale, I am totally and untterly in love with that show.

I have deliberatley not put any commentary underneath the pictures as I fear this post would go on forever! Most of my things have been collected over a life time of being a sucker for Bygone Era's and for having been brought up in a sleepy retirement area.  Cheap charity shops used to be in abundance ( sadly not so much anymore).
